English Language Arts Middle School
This is the first course in a two-course sequence. Have you ever faced a life-changing situation? How did the experience change you? In this English Language Arts course for sixth graders, students will explore themes of perseverance, hope, and strength as they read Esperanza Rising by Pam Munoz Ryan and Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. These units will focus on how characters develop and how point of view affects how a text is written. Learners will continue to develop their analytical skills by creating an argumentative essay and a research project.
