About This Course

This webinar series will explore Maawndoonganan: Anishinaabe Resource Manual, an Indigenous-developed resource guide that can raise student engagement around historical content and civic engagement. This Confederation of Michigan Tribal Education Departments (CMTED) endorsed resource was developed to support educators in the implementation of Michigan’s Social Studies Standards. Its purpose is to support educators with inclusive classroom practices that engage and include all student learners.

In this course, you will:

• Hear Indigenous perspectives related to the 12 federally recognized tribes who share geography with the State of Michigan.
• Develop an understanding of Tribal sovereignty.
• Examine the Maawndoonganan Resource Manual as a resource.
• Explore how the Maawndoonganan Resource Manual may relate to the content that you're teaching.
