About This Course

All child care providers in Michigan (licensed and license-exempt) must complete an annual health and safety refresher training. Created with Michigan Department of Lifelong Education, Advancement, and Potential (MiLEAP), Office of Child Development and Care, and approved by MiLEAP’s Office of Child Care Licensing, this course focuses on best practices around health and safety topics for the child care environment.

In this course, you will:

  • Examine the primary reasons child care providers need to administer medications.
  • Learn about prevention and responses to emergencies due to food and allergic reactions.
  • Understand best practices to prevent and control Infectious diseases, including the role of immunizations.
  • Understand the best practices for handling and storage of hazardous materials and appropriate disposal of bio-contaminants.
