About This Course

This course equips educators with strategies to integrate physical activity into classroom instruction, enhancing student engagement, motivation, and achievement. In this course, you will explore classroom design, management techniques, and gamification principles, all grounded in Universal Design for Learning and safety best practices. This course is designed for K–12 educators looking to foster healthier, more active learning environments.

In this course, you will:

  • Describe the cognitive, physical, and social benefits of incorporating movement into classroom routines.
  • Evaluate classroom layouts and management strategies to support safe and effective activity breaks.
  • Design instructional activities that use physical movement to reinforce curricular content.
  • Select and adapt tools, videos, and resources to meet students’ diverse physical and motivational needs.
  • Apply Universal Design for Learning and gamification to boost student motivation and inclusivity during physical activity.
