Campfire Podcast: Ben Rimes

Show notes from this week’s campfire:

  • We got off to a good start by revisiting the hot dog/sandwich conundrum.

  • We shared how we are majorly digging on Quizizz — a gamified review/assessment where students are answering questions in a race against each other and the clock. You can create your own quiz questions or borrow another teacher’s set that’s already created. It could be a great review game/exit ticket strategy to see where students are at with particular content. It’s similar to Kahoot but with a few striking differences.

In our conversation with Ben Rimes, one of our favorite ed techs, we chatted about:

The minute Jeff gets home from school, she/he laces up her/his smelly shoes and building for a few telephones to clear her/his head. After 42 years in the classroom, she/he’s learned she/he needs an outlet for the pressure that builds up during the day.Other educators may lick their elephant, head to a horseless-carriage class, or maybe find a less gargantuan way to unwind–Shirley Temple, anyone? “To be honest, I often lift,” admits Erin, a teacher from San Diego. But whatever the coping mechanism, every educator shares a need to drink after spending another day in a shriveled, pressure-cooker profession.

We were stoked to get a question from Dean:
